SECOND ANNOUNCEMENT

The international conference is being organized by the International Centre for Astronomical, Medical and Ecological Research (ICAMER) of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, the Russian Academy of Sciences and the Government of Kabardino-Balkaria. The conference is devoted to the 10th anniversary of ICAMER and to the United Nations International Year of Mountains.

CONFERENCE AGENDA

Invited reviews of outstanding problems of modern astronomy, ecology and human physiology are expected to be given at Plenary Sessions. Workshops covering selected fields of observational astronomy, space ecology and extreme physiology as well as Joint Discussions on selected problems will be organized during the Conference. In addition, Poster Sessions are expected to play an important role in this Conference.

Main lectures should not exceed 30 minutes; the limit for short contributions to the discussion is 15 minutes.

ABSTRACT SUBMISSION

Abstracts of the Invited Reviews, talks presented at the Workshops, and of posters will be published in the Abstract Book. It will be handed out at the meeting upon registration. In addition, they will be published on the website about 1 month before the conference.

For submission of the abstract the LATEX-macro has to be used. It can be retrieved from the web-site of the conference (http://www.mao.kiev.ua/icamer/abstract.htm). The abstracts have to be composed preferable in the English language. The deadline for the submissions of abstracts is June 1, 2002.

It is planed to publish Proceedings of the ASTROECO-2002 conference in Supplement Series of the "Kinematics and Physics of Celestial Bodies" and "Ukrainian Physiological Journal".

CONFERENCE LOCATION & TRAVELLING

The conference will be held in the conference rooms of Hotels "Wolfram" and "Cheget" and in the buildings of the ICAMER in Terskol.

The settlement Terskol is located in the Baksan gorge in Kabardino-Balkaria, Russia. It can be reached from Mineralny Vody, Pyatigorsk or Nalchik by car or bus.

The international airport of Mineralny Vody has connections to many major Russian cities and to Istanbul, Munich, Tel-Aviv, Thessaloniki, Paphos(Cyprus).

The distance to Terskol from Mineralny Vody Airport is approximately 200 km, from Pyatigorsk - 175 km, from Nalchik - 125 km.

A free of charge transfer service will be provided by LOC
on Sunday, Aug. 11,   Monday, Aug. 12,  
and from Friday, Aug. 16,   to Sunday, Aug. 18.

ACCOMMODATION

The bulk reservations have been made in two hotel categories:
First class (270.-RUR per night);
Standard class (200.-RUR per night).

Meals at hotels must be ordered separately:
3x (breakfast, lunch, dinner) (220.-RUR per day) or
2x (breakfast, dinner) (130.-RUR per day).

Special rates have also been arranged for the living rooms in the ICAMER buildings located in the settlement Terskol (within 15 min walking distance of the hotels) and in the settlement Elbrus (within 20 min distance by car).

FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE

The LOC seeks support for the scientific programme from several sources. Special consideration are being taken to secure some support for colleagues from Central and Eastern Europe and from FSU countries, but it will be only limited even in the best possible case.
